Elisapee Ishulutaq, OC (1925–2018), recipient of the 2014 Order of Canada, was a renowned artist whose drawings, paintings and sculpture offered recollections of traditional Inuit life often contrasted with her experiences and the issues she saw in the contemporary world. She was born in 1925 at Kagiqtuqjuaq, a small seasonal camp in the Northwest Territories and moved to Panniqtuuq (Pangnirtung), NU in the late 1960s where she began her artistic practice. She was among the first artists to make prints with the Pangnirtung Co-operative, now the Uqqurmiut Centre for Arts & Crafts.View Long Biography and Citations
