Biography

Elisapee Tatigat Avingaq is a jeweller and seamstress based in Iqaluit, NU. Known for her unique earrings that incorporate fish leather and beadwork, Avingaq is also an avid seamstress after having been taught by her mother, Susan Avingaq, honing her skills in adulthood when she wanted to craft her own amautis. Now, Avingaq creates an extensive line of earrings and textiles, which she sells through the digital marketplace. She appeared alongside her mother on the cover of the 1995 “Inuit Art World” issue of the “Inuit Art Quarterly”.View Long Biography and Citations
