Biography

Megan Kyak-Monteith is a talented emerging artist from Mittimatalik (Pond Inlet), NU who resides in Halifax, NS. Kyak-Monteith is a student at NSCAD University where she studies Interdisciplinary Arts focusing mostly on painting and illustration.

Kyak-Monteith’s work often revolves around memory and piecing together memories with images and stories shared with her. In her painting Marble Island (2018) Kyak-Monteith depicts two figures exploring the rocks and beaches of Nunavut’s Marble Island. Kyak-Monteith’s final work brings together her own experiences as well as documented imagery giving a dream-like feeling to the work.
