Pitaloosie Saila is an illustrator and printmaker from Kinngait (Cape Dorset), NU. She is a prolific artist having produced over 1,450 drawings and 165 prints in her lifetime. Saila began drawing around 1965. Her artwork ranges from the realistic to the more surreal and tends to focus on people and animals as subjects. Her art has been featured in over 150 exhibitions and included in the Kinngait print catalogue since 1968. Her work Fisherman's Dream was featured on a postage stamp in 1977 and her lithograph In the Hills represented the Northwest Territories in the centennial celebration of the National Parks of Canada. She was appointed to the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts in 2004.View Long Biography and Citations
