In Collaboration With:
WAG-Qaumajuq RGB LB

Join the IAF in celebrating the five artists shortlisted for the Kenojuak Ashevak Memorial Award in a series of talks this June. The third talk will feature Calgary based Inuvialuk artist and curator Kablusiak.

Kablusiak uses art and humour as a mechanism to subtly address diaspora, and to openly address mental illness; the lighthearted nature of their practice extends gestures of empathy and solidarity. These interests invite a reconsideration of the perceptions of contemporary indigeneity and counter the stigma surrounding mental health.

During this artist talk, you’ll have an opportunity to learn about Kablusiak’s creative process, and what inspires their unique style.
