Biography
John Taylor is an Inuvialuit carver and is the youngest carver among his family. He is the great grandchild of Bobby Taylor known for his sculpture work from the Inuvialuit Region. He was surrounded by carvers at a very young age such as William Taylor, Derrald Taylor, Curtis Taylor, and Verna Taylor. Originally from Tuktoyaktuk, NT, John is now based in Inuvik, NT creating his works and is a regular at the Great Northern Arts Festival. He mainly works in soapstone and also uses animal bones such as caribou and beluga whale. Being the youngest has given him the chance to learn and watch his skilled family and learn their techniques.
