Madeleine Aasivak Qumuatuq

Biography

Madeleine Aasivak Qumuatuk was born in Pangnirtung, NU, where she continues to reside. A painter and photographer, she exhibits her work at festivals. In 2014, one of her photos won the Nunavut Tunngavik photo of the month contest. She has previously served as Acting President of the Nunavut Status of Women Council and now continues to work in government. Qumuatuk is an adviser to Parks Canada on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ), traditional Inuit knowledge and values.
