Priscilla Boulay

Born into a family of multi-generational carvers in Tuktoyaktuk, Inuvialuit Settlement Region, NT,  Priscilla Boulay was handed her first piece of soapstone to polish at the age of 3. Ever since, she has been carving on and off with her family and pursuing it full-time after making the move to Calgary, AB, in 2010 and later Irricana, AB, where she currently resides.

Working in soapstone as well as horn and bone, Boulay is becoming known for her beluga whale imagery that reoccurs frequently in her carvings. Often, her pieces are mixed media works, incorporating both stone and bone to create fantastical hunting scenes. Her behind-the-scenes insights into her artistic process have earned her a following on social media, where art enthusiasts can view her completed works and works in progress.
