Tivi Etok is a printmaker and graphic artist based out of Kangiqsulujjuaq, QC. He first began printmaking when his community nominated him to attend a printmaking workshop in Puvirnituq (Povungnituk) in 1972. In 1975, Etok released the first ever solo print collection by an Inuk artist, "Whispering in my ears and mingling with my dreams". Influenced by the legends and traditional ways of life and to a lesser extent himself, Etok’s prints quickly became the subject of intense scholarship and multiple exhibitions, including solo shows in Boston (1975), Montreal (1976) and Halifax (1968). In 2008, Etok’s trilingual biography, The World of Tivi Etok: The Life and Art of an Inuit Elder, was released.View Long Biography and Citations
