Learn how to transform fish skin into leather that’s stronger than cow hide and waterproof, with the fabulous Inuk, founder of the social media brand Inuk360! Inuk will be working with arctic char, live from her kitchen counter. The workshop will be held in two parts:

Part I - Thursday Aug. 24, from 5:00-6:30 P.M. EST. Workshop participants will receive an overview of the types of tools that are required that they can find in their own kitchen, how to prepare and wash the fish skin, and then use eco-friendly techniques for transforming the fish skin into leather, in 5 to 7 days.

Part II - Monday Aug. 28, from 5:00-6:30 P.M. EST. Inuk will guide participants through each step of the process of finalizing the hide, share samples of skins at various stages, and discuss what the leather can be used for once the process is complete.

Inuk is an Inuvialuk multidisciplinary designer. An educator and advocate for the use of sustainability harvested arctic furs (she is the daughter of a man who was one of the original wildlife officers of the NWT) and inspirational speaker. Through lived experience Inuk is a strong advocate of breaking the silence on domestic violence, mental health, bullying, IRRS and MMIW. Inuk is also a 3rd generation Indian residential school survivor, a knowledge keeper, a plus size model, a social media creator and a role model. Inuk was born, raised and continues to live in the Northwest Territories, Canada.
